Why an experiment?
Does Sintra make us more creative?
For centuries, Sintra has inspired poets, painters and architects, from Hans Christian Andersen to Lord Byron. We want to understand why.
Each participant takes part in a real creative experiment: how do the forest, the fog and the slow pace of Sintra change the way we create?
After curated activities with Novada, you’ll work on your artwork and use AI to speed up the idea stage. At the end of your stay, you’ll present a short paper with your thoughts on your creative process and on Sintra’s impact on your work.
With your consent, we’ll gather your reflections before, during and after your stay: your ideas, your process and the work you create. The results will be analysed in an AI sandbox with a pool of experts and published as a study of creativity and Sintra’s impact on creative work. Your project becomes part of that story.

We design your Sintra programme
Novada prepares a creative programme in Sintra to boost your creativity: forest walks, workshops with local makers, coworking and co-creation days with AI, and meetings with Sintra's creative community.
Receive your official invitation
Novada shares the official invitation letter as your international partner, which you attach to your grant application.
Apply for the grant
You submit your application on the Goethe-Application Portal by one of the monthly deadlines.

Eligibility
- Artists and cultural professionals aged 18+
- Legally living in a Creative Europe country other than Portugal (nationality doesn't matter)
- Individually or in a group of up to 5
- Stay: 7–60 days for individuals, 7–21 days for groups, in one continuous stay
- Not eligible: non-fiction writing projects and audiovisual-only projects
- People who already received a Culture Moves Europe individual grant after October 2025 can't apply again
